How to Register Your System

  1. Step 1: Notify Your Energy Supplier

Contact your electricity supplier to inform them of your new solar system. Provide system capacity (watts) and installation date. This is required within 30 days of installation.

  2. Step 2: Register with Your DNO

Find your local DNO above and register your microgeneration system. You'll need system details and your property address. This is legally required before connecting to the grid.

  3. Step 3: Obtain Smart Meter (if needed)

To receive payments for exported electricity under the Smart Export Guarantee, you'll need a Smart Meter. Contact your energy supplier to request a free installation.

  4. Step 4: Enroll in Smart Export Guarantee

Once you have a Smart Meter, register with your supplier's SEG scheme to start receiving payments for exported electricity (typically 5-15p per kWh).
